Gatherings & locations

A big part of rediscovering the heart of early Church community is making room in our lives to encourage, support, share and learn from one another. This happens through our weekly gatherings, community meals and other times of meeting and growing together.

Our gatherings are a space where everyone has a voice and is empowered to grow in their relationship with Jesus and their personal God-given destiny. This means we’re less about a set routine of music and preaching, and more about finding ways to help you keep moving forward in your everyday life with Jesus (Ephesians 4:12).

While our plans change from time to time, our weekly gatherings are usually in homes in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs. Please reach out here if you’d like to find out more about our gatherings or, alternatively, feel free to send us an email at hi@thrivecommunity.au.

What happens when we gather

“All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer.”

Just like the early Church, we devote ourselves to at least one of these four things every time we gather together as a church community:

Teaching and preaching

Fellowship and connection

Sharing meals and communion

Prayer and worship

And we believe that part of following the Bible’s pattern for church community is also having a rhythm between gathering amongst the community and in homes (Acts 2:46). This means our gatherings often look different week-to-week as we prioritise different things depending on what we believe God is saying and doing in our community.

One week we may have someone preach a message, or a time of sharing and discussion; another week might focus on prayer and worship; another week we might be serving a local community organisation and another week might look like sharing a meal together.

No matter what our gatherings looks like, our prayer is that everything we do would help you grow in your relationship with Jesus, grow in your relationships with others and grow in your God-given destiny.

“In Him [and in fellowship with one another] you also are being built together into a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.”

- Ephesians 2:22 AMP
